An enrichment program for Whittier Elementary students
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

Through hands-on, contextual, and fun lessons and activities, students will engage with the Spanish language and many Spanish-speaking cultures. This hour-long program provides K-5 students with supportive, assets-based instruction. All students enrolled at Whittier Elementary are welcome to enroll in the program!

The focus of Joyce Spanish Immersion is on enriching the first hour of the students’ school day. No prior experience with Spanish language necessary!

Structured enrichment will include a welcome activity that includes children of all ages, as well as smaller groups that explore age-based and experience-based activities. The class broadly follows the curricular themes of the Whittier Spanish language department. This ensures that enrichment activities support and reinforce students’ Spanish lessons.

Joyce Spanish Immersion instructors are qualified, bilingual educators with years of experience in teaching.

Rates for our 2017-18 Joyce Spanish Immersion at Whittier are:
Fall Session: $300 (October 3 - January 23)
Spring Session: $330 (January 30 - June 5)

Enrollment

Enrollment for Joyce Spanish Immersion at Whittier begins July 1 each year. Children are enrolled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The registration fee must accompany registration forms in order to be processed.

Scholarships are available; to request a scholarship, families must fill out the scholarship form and attach the prior year’s taxes or 1 month’s worth of pay stubs.
