Joyce turns 50!
During the 2016-17 school year, we celebrated the Joyce Preschool 50th Anniversary.
What an amazing journey: 50 years ago, a group of amazing, visionary women started a nursery program serving only 12 kids. Today, Joyce provides bilingual preschool to over 100 children each year, develops our parents’ skills as leaders, and anchors hundreds of families in our community.
We had so many reasons to celebrate during our 50th Anniversary year, and many events that highlighted our community’s diversity and history of supporting preschoolers.
El Festival
It wouldn’t be a celebration without the chaos of families for a party! El Festival, a cultural celebration of Joyce’s 50 years, brought together food, families, and games at our Windom site.
Families enjoyed incredible carnitas and smoked pork shoulder, catered by the event committee members. There were also amazing cultural dance performances from Kalpulli Katzal Coatlicue, Baile Cultural Mexicano, and Grupo Culural MISKA Perú! A silent auction and raffle benefited preschool scholarships. We closed the party with a piñata.

¡Salud! A Toast to 50 Years
On February 10, we partnered with Chef Daniel Del Prado of Burch and Mikey Lecy of Penny’s Coffee to host an intimate, unforgettable fine dining experience in support of Joyce Preschool’s scholarships.
Guests were treated to a Mediterranean-inspired 5-course dinner, complete with wine pairings courtesy of local expert Erin Ungerman.
Gamut Gallery curated a 5-piece exhibit especially for the event. The paintings, collage, and sculpture work traversed minimalism and abstraction to figurative and street art, while all sharing a focused vibrancy that embodies the energy of Joyce’s 50-year jubilee.

Founders & Friends Luncheon
Joyce wouldn’t be where it is today without the early leaders, visionaries, and steadfast supporters who recognized and invested in the potential of Joyce’s program. In May 2017, we gathered to recognize these critical contributions and reflect on the program’s evolution over the last 50 years.
