Joyce’s 2014-15 annual report

After our relocation in 2013 and our playground build in 2014, it is wonderful to look back on 2015 as a year not of monumental change, but of daily, persistent progress.

Nothing illustrates our annual report theme, Step by Step, better than the progress our students make from September to May. The 2014-15 school year marked Joyce’s fourth year in a row of having 100% kindergarten readiness among our graduates. It is our greatest reward to see children blossom as they gain confidence, make new friends, communicate in English and Spanish — and graduate ready for elementary school and beyond!

While the children were working on their letters and languages, staff worked steadily to make sure our teachers were also equipped with the tools for success. Ongoing professional development, curriculum honing, and accreditation are just a few of the key areas we worked on to maintain our high standards of quality as a NAEYC-accredited and Parent Aware 4-star program.

We also began work on our new strategic plan, establishing our roadmap and continuing to seek feedback from parents and staff about priorities for the program. As we look to a future where we serve as an internship site for teachers-in-training, we know every step we take to maintain and enhance our program’s quality is key to that future success.

Just as key to that success is the abundance of support our community shows for the work that happens at Joyce. For taking these steps alongside us — for ensuring our children and families have everything they need for success in school and life — I thank you.
